School Tours

This is an all day program for 4th grade students studying Indiana History.  Groups round-robin between buildings with volunteers explaining each  building and teaching them skills needed to live in the 1800’s.

Christmas Open House

The open house is the first Saturday and Sunday in December, 3:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.  (local time).  The Village is festive with all the natural hand made decorations.  Warm cider and cookies are served in the 2 log cabins.  Draft horse wagon rides are given continually during the evening.  There is no charge for the event.

LaPorte County Fair

The fair is usually held the 3rd week of July and the village is open 11:00 A.M. – 10:00 P.M. (local time) each day.  A ham and bean soup dinner is held on the opening day with entertainment  provided.  There is a charge for the meal plus admission to the fairgrounds.
Demonstrations of early skills go on all day and evening during fair week.

Special Events

Pioneer Land is operated totally by volunteers.  By special request other programs and activities may be held.  Some of these programs are tour bus tours, Motor Coach conferences, weddings, church group tours, senior citizens programs, company picnics, etc.
